Mini Kagamibiraki Set without Masu Cup/Celebration(Rising Sun)

¥8,000

Contemporary calligrapher, Tansetsu Ogino's designed this komodaru with 'Iwai' (kanji character).
It is suitable for various uses such as Japanese-style interiors, exteriors and event decor.

Mr. Ogino is renowned for modernizing the beauty of calligraphy. He integrates the contemporary taste into the traditional realm of calligraphy, and is active not only in calligraphy, but also in contemporary art and design.

You may have seen his design on the labels of 'Natural Mineral Water from South Japanese Alps', Suntory's whiskey 'Hibiki' and 'Chita', and also as the title logo for the NHK period drama, 'Shinsengumi!'.

Our company and Mr. Ogino have a long history together, dating back to around the year 1965. Back then, printing on komodaru was done the old-fashioned way, where patterns were stenciled onto the surface, and sake brand names were written by hand.

Later on, screen printing was introduced with the advancement of printing technology. In those circumstances, we needed positive films for printing and asked Mr. Ogino to recreate by hand more than 1000 komodaru designs from its pattern papers.

The komodaru designed by Mr. Ogino this time features a joyful yet dignified 'Iwai' character in the center, along with a four-character idiom meaning "auspicious clouds and beautiful light".

The‘Mini Kagamibiraki Set’is a patented product that offers a compact version of the kagamibiraki ceremony, where a wooden mallet is used to open a komdoaru.
It has become a favorite as a new alternative for the traditional candle service at wedding receptions, and for gatherings among family and friends.
Included in the set is a small barrel that can hold 720ml. It is all up to you to decide what to put inside: fill it with gifts to distribute to your guests, or hide a small gift inside for your loved ones for a surprise!
The barrel itself weighs only about 430g, making it easy to carry home.
Because the lid is magnetized, you can enjoy the kagamibiraki ceremony multiple times. The impact of the lid bursting open upon striking it with the wooden mallet is quite spectacular.
An item that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages.
The‘Mini Kagamibiraki Set,’combining the old and the new, will surely liven up any event and make everyone's time an enjoyable one.
